S.2863

Requires the state, and private insurers that cover prescription hormone therapy, to dispense twelve (12) months’ worth of the prescription as a single prescription.

Chamber Passed·6/4/26
Introduced Text

Rhode Island S2863 requires the state and private insurers to dispense up to a year's supply of prescription hormone therapy as a single prescription.

Rhode Island S2863 mandates that the state and private insurers providing prescription hormone therapy coverage must dispense up to a year's supply as a single prescription, starting January 1, 2027. This applies unless the enrollee requests a smaller supply, the prescribing provider instructs otherwise, or the therapy is a controlled substance. The bill also allows health plans to apply drug utilization management strategies to covered drugs. It does not apply to certain limited-benefit insurance policies.
