Rhode Island S2821 requires the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to review the components of the formula used to compute aid for high-need students. This includes evaluating the student success factor and multilingual learner factors, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of poverty status determinations. The department must submit reports to the governor, speaker of the house, and senate president, and recommend funding solutions to meet the needs of multilingual learners. The act takes effect upon passage.
