Military-connected students can enroll remotely in Rhode Island schools if their parent or guardian is stationed in the state.
This bill defines a "military-connected student" as a student whose parent or guardian is in active military service or the Rhode Island National Guard. It allows these students to enroll remotely by presenting military orders confirming their parent or guardian's stationing in Rhode Island for the current or next school year. Remote registration does not require the student or parent/guardian to be physically present at the school district. Proof of residency is required within ten days of the student's attendance. The act takes effect upon passage.
