Rhode Island S2501 allows state union employees to negotiate longevity payments in their collective bargaining agreements starting July 1, 2026.

Rhode Island S2501 amends state laws to allow state union employees to negotiate longevity payments in their collective bargaining agreements beginning on July 1, 2026. This change applies to employees under the grade of nineteen. Employees who have previously accrued longevity payments will continue to receive the same percentage in effect on June 30, 2011, or upon the expiration of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, whichever occurs later. The board of regents is authorized to implement regulations for these provisions. This act takes effect upon passage.
