Rhode Island S2488 prohibits bail bond agents from engaging in civil immigration enforcement.

Rhode Island S2488 prohibits bail bond agents and bail bond recovery agents from using their authority or resources for civil immigration enforcement. This includes assisting in the enforcement of civil immigration warrants or inquiring into a defendant's immigration status. Such conduct is defined as unprofessional and subject to professional discipline, including license suspension or revocation. This act takes effect upon passage.
