Rhode Island S2479 amends the "Law Enforcement Officers’ Due Process, Accountability, and Transparency Act" to prohibit state law enforcement agencies from hiring individuals who were hired as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on or after January 20, 2025. This prohibition applies prospectively to individuals hired on or after October 1, 2026, the effective date of the act. The law does not affect individuals hired by the agency before the effective date.
