Rhode Island S2471 permits municipalities to enter into contracts with the Department of Transportation for minor and routine maintenance work on state highways, roadways, and shoulders within the municipality. Municipalities completing such work are relieved from tort liability if the work meets contract standards. They are also entitled to payment or reimbursement from the Department, in accordance with the contract. The bill does not affect the powers and duties of the Department.
