Rhode Island S2440 prohibits collection of motor vehicle violation fines or costs after seven years.

Rhode Island S2440 amends the General Laws to add a new section prohibiting the state, municipalities, or courts from collecting fines or costs for motor vehicle violations more than seven years after the fine becomes final. This change applies to all fines and costs assessed for motor vehicle violations under title 31-41.1. The act takes effect upon passage.
