Introduced Text

Rhode Island S2414 allows disabled veteran license plates to be transferred to veterans' spouses and issued to eligible veterans or their spouses.

Rhode Island S2414 permits the transfer of "Disabled Veteran" license plates to a veteran's spouse if the veteran is no longer able to operate a vehicle. The plates can also be transferred to the veteran's surviving spouse upon the veteran's death, until the spouse remarries. Only one set of "Disabled Veteran" plates can be issued to an eligible veteran or their spouse. The bill exempts eligible veterans from paying fees for annual vehicle registration and license.
