Rhode Island S2390 makes offenses against gift card holders subject to larceny penalties.

Rhode Island S2390 amends the General Laws to make offenses against gift card holders subject to larceny penalties. This includes acquiring or retaining possession of a gift card or gift card redemption information without consent, altering or tampering with a gift card, or using a gift card obtained with intent to defraud. Penalties include fines, imprisonment, and restitution. The act takes effect upon passage.
