Introduced Text

Establishes an equivalent training certification program at the municipal police academy.

This bill amends the standards for police training in Rhode Island by establishing an equivalent training certification program at the municipal police academy. The program will allow certification of candidates who have worked at least one year as a sworn law enforcement officer, received comparable training, and have no more than an eight-year break in service. The commission on standards and training will set rules and regulations for the education, physical standards, and personal character of candidates and trainees. This act takes effect upon passage.
