The Matthew O'Gara Act of 2026 increases penalties for a first offense of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. The penalties include a minimum 10 years in incarceration, a minimum $10,000 fine, and a minimum 10-year license revocation. The act also increases penalties for other violations from a minimum of five years to ten years in prison. This act takes effect upon passage.
