This bill increases the number of members on the State Crime Laboratory Commission from five to nine. The new commission will include three members with expertise in law enforcement, three with expertise in criminal defense, and three with expertise in scientific research. The chair of the Department of Physics at the University of Rhode Island will serve as the executive secretary, overseeing the administration of the state crime laboratory. This act would take effect upon passage.
