Rhode Island S2278 prohibits state and municipal officials or bodies from entering into and renewing any agreements that will be used to detain individuals for federal civil immigration violations. This includes prohibiting the use of public real estate for immigration detention facilities. The act would take effect upon passage, no later than July 1, 2026.
