Introduced Text

Rhode Island S2267 outlines landlord and tenant responsibilities for bed bug inspections and treatments in residential premises.

Rhode Island S2267, known as the "Bed Bugs in Residential Premises Act," establishes clear responsibilities for both landlords and tenants regarding bed bug inspections and treatments. Landlords must obtain an inspection within 96 hours of bed bug notice and provide tenants with electronic notice at least 48 hours before entry for inspection or treatment. Tenants must comply with reasonable inspection and treatment measures and notify landlords of suspected bed bugs. Landlords cannot rent units known to have bed bugs and must disclose past infestations upon request.
