Rhode Island S2203, known as the Genetic Information Privacy Act, requires direct-to-consumer genetic testing companies to provide consumers with detailed information about the company's policies and procedures for the collection, use, maintenance, and disclosure of genetic data. Companies must obtain express consent from consumers before collecting, using, or disclosing their genetic data. The act also mandates that companies offer mechanisms for consumers to easily revoke their consent.
