Rhode Island S2154, known as the "Electronic Information and Data Privacy Act," requires law enforcement agencies to obtain search warrants for electronic information, data, location information, and other identifying information of subscribers and customers, except in specified circumstances. These exceptions include when the information is voluntarily disclosed by the subscriber or customer, or when the provider voluntarily discloses the information under a belief that an emergency exists involving an imminent risk to an individual.
