Complete·6/23/26

Requires party chairpersons to submit voter lists to the mayor or council president within 30 days of a vacancy notice, and mandates replacement.

This bill amends local canvassing authority provisions, requiring party chairpersons to submit lists of party voters to the mayor or council president within 30 days of a vacancy notice. The mayor or council president must then nominate a replacement from the submitted lists within 30 days. It also clarifies term expiration dates for canvassing authority members and alternates, and directs the city or town clerk to correct any noncompliance. The act would take effect on January 1, 2027.
