Rhode Island S2081 creates a tuition assistance fund for postsecondary students in shortage teaching fields, defined as subject areas or teacher certifications experiencing a critical lack of educators. Eligible students must enroll or be accepted into a Rhode Island postsecondary institution program to become a teacher in a shortage field and complete at least three years of full-time teaching in that field. Tuition assistance covers tuition, room, board, mandatory fees, and other costs of attending a Rhode Island postsecondary institution.
