Rhode Island S2053 amends the General Laws to mandate arming campus police at public higher educational institutions. It also includes campus police in the definition of "law enforcement officer" for the purposes of the "law enforcement officers' bill of rights". This change grants campus police the same rights, duties, and responsibilities as other law enforcement officers. The act takes effect upon passage.
