Rhode Island S2019 amends the estate tax law to increase the net taxable estate exemption to $3,600,000 starting January 1, 2027. The exemption will then rise by $1,000,000 each year until it expires on January 1, 2033. This change affects residents and nonresidents whose estates exceed these thresholds. The tax will no longer apply to estates transferred after January 1, 2033.
