Rhode Island H8614 allows disabled veteran license plates to be transferred to veterans' spouses and issued to veterans or their spouses.
Rhode Island H8614 amends the state's General Laws to allow disabled veteran license plates to be transferred to a veteran's spouse if the veteran is no longer able to operate a vehicle. The plates may also be transferred to a surviving spouse upon the death of the initial registrant. The plates can be issued to eligible veterans or their spouses, exempting them from annual registration fees. Eligibility is based on amputation, loss of limbs, or a 100% service-connected disability rating. The act takes effect upon passage.
