Rhode Island H8586 allows rental companies to prove non-liability for toll violations by providing rental agreements.

Rhode Island H8586 amends the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority's laws to allow rental companies to establish non-liability for toll violations, administrative fees, and fines. This is achieved by providing a rental or lease agreement as prima facie evidence that the lessee was the vehicle operator. Rental companies must also notify the authority of toll violations involving their vehicles. The act does not affect tolls, fines, or penalties owed for violations occurring before its effective date.
