H8545

Amends law to include all licensed physician assistants with licensed physicians and nurses required, each license renewal period, to complete a minimum of 1 hour of instruction on the diagnosis treatment, and care of patients with cognitive impairments.

Introduced·5/13/26

Rhode Island H8545 mandates physician assistants to complete an hour of training on cognitive impairments during each license renewal.

Rhode Island H8545 amends the Rhode Island Program to Address Alzheimer’s Disease by requiring all licensed physician assistants to complete a minimum of one hour of instruction on the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with cognitive impairments, including Alzheimer’s disease, during each license renewal period. This aligns physician assistants with licensed physicians and nurses who already have this requirement. The Department of Health will implement this training requirement through rules. The act takes effect upon passage.
