Rhode Island H8510 removes the vehicle registration restriction for Kei cars and Kei trucks and spells out the restrictions on the Kei vehicles in order to be operated on public highways in the state. Kei cars and Kei trucks can be registered and operated on public highways with a speed limit of 35 miles per hour or less. The bill also authorizes municipalities to prohibit the operation of Kei cars and Kei trucks on certain roadways and requires the posting of signs to notify the public of such restrictions. The act takes effect upon passage.
