Introduced Text

Repeals the system for proper management of unused paint in Rhode Island.

This bill repeals the system for proper management of unused paint in Rhode Island. The repealed system established a cost-effective, convenient, statewide system for the collection, recycling, and reuse of post-consumer paint. It also developed a comprehensive strategy for the proper management of post-consumer paint in a safe and environmentally sound manner. The bill removes the requirements for producers, distributors, and retailers to participate in the paint stewardship program and to add a paint stewardship assessment to the cost of architectural paint sold in the state.
