Rhode Island H8406 modifies Medicaid bed hold requirements for assisted living communities.

Rhode Island H8406 amends Medicaid regulations to exempt licensed assisted living communities from holding residential units for Medicare-eligible residents absent for over 10 days unless the Executive Office of Health and Human Services provides a Medicaid bed hold payment. The payment must be at least 50% of the resident's assessed Medicaid assisted living rate. The act also limits unpaid bed holds to 45 days in total, regardless of anticipated return status. The changes apply to Medicaid-assisted living residents absent on or after July 1, 2026.
