This bill grants the town council of Hopkinton the authority to confer jurisdiction to the municipal court to hear and determine appeals from decisions of the Chief of Police related to the return of seized firearms. The municipal court can affirm, reverse, or modify the police chief's decision. Any aggrieved party can petition the supreme court for a writ of certiorari within 20 days of the municipal court's final judgment. The municipal court can impose sentences up to 30 days in jail, fines up to $500, or both. The act takes effect upon passage.
