This bill amends the abandoned property act to classify energy storage systems on abandoned properties as a by-right, permitted use under the zoning code for the municipality. It also amends the Renewable Ready Program to allow renewable energy resources and energy storage systems on previously contaminated properties as by-right, permitted uses. The bill specifies that these systems must comply with municipal planning and zoning procedures and industrial or manufacturing zone requirements, with a maximum structural lot coverage of 65%. The bill takes effect upon passage.
