Rhode Island H8279 allows Smithfield to enact a moratorium on housing applications if 250 or more units are proposed in comprehensive permit projects.

Rhode Island H8279 amends the General Laws to authorize the town of Smithfield to enact an emergency moratorium on housing applications if 250 or more units are proposed in comprehensive permit projects. The moratorium can continue until the permit requirements in § 45-53-4 are amended. No applications submitted during the moratorium will have any grandfathered status. This act takes effect upon passage.
