Rhode Island H8265 amends the cannabis act to enhance social equity in the cannabis industry and adjust tax revenue allocation.

Rhode Island H8265 amends the cannabis act by requiring all applicants for cannabis licenses to disclose prior criminal convictions and establish a social equity assistance fund. This fund will provide grants to social equity applicants for cannabis business expenses and support workforce development. The bill also creates a disproportionately impacted areas investment fund to finance public housing, education, and health initiatives in areas most affected by cannabis enforcement.
