Rhode Island H8179 increases the minimum fee per barrel of petroleum products or crude oil from five cents to ten cents. The additional funds will be directed to support projects and initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and meeting the state's climate goals as directed by the executive climate change coordinating council. The bill also expands the use of the fund to include research and development in pollution caused by oil and petroleum products, and monitoring of environmental and economic conditions. This act takes effect upon passage.
