The Higher Education Opportunities for Students with Disabilities Act allows students with disabilities, aged 18 to 22, to attend state colleges and universities using their foundation education aid. It provides reasonable accommodations and accessible formats for participating students. Students with severe intellectual disabilities, severe autism spectrum disorders, or other severe developmental disabilities can attend without needing to take standardized tests or meet certain academic requirements. Institutions must provide annual reports on student participation and outcomes.
