Rhode Island H8147 provides cost of living adjustments to retirees in the state pension system starting January 1, 2026.

Rhode Island H8147 amends the state's retirement laws to provide cost of living adjustments to retirees in the state pension system. Beginning January 1, 2026, all retirees will receive annual adjustments up to three percent, compounded into their total retirement benefits each year. The adjustments are based on the Consumer Price Index or the five-year average investment return, whichever is less. The provisions apply prospectively only, affecting retirees from the date of enactment forward.
