Introduced Text

Rhode Island H8143 allows public safety retirees to be re-employed in administrative positions without affecting their retirement benefits.

Rhode Island H8143 amends the retirement laws for municipal employees to allow public safety retirees to be re-employed in administrative positions without affecting their retirement benefits. Retirees can elect to be re-employed without limitation on the number of days worked or compensation earned. However, they must remit a contribution equal to five percent of their compensation to the retirement system. This contribution is not credited toward service credit or used in the calculation of any retirement benefit.
