Introduced Text

Adds assumption of risk to Rhode Island's comparative negligence statute.

Rhode Island H8047 amends the comparative negligence statute by incorporating the doctrine of assumption of risk. This means that even if an injured party assumed the risk of injury or the danger was open and obvious, they can still recover damages. However, the damages will be reduced proportionally based on the injured party's negligence. The changes take effect immediately upon passage.
