Rhode Island H8039 amends zoning ordinances to clarify the creation and regulation of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on existing lots. The bill allows ADUs to be created on substandard lots of record with more than one principal dwelling building. It specifies that ADUs must comply with building and fire codes and have access to public water and sewer or approved private systems.
