Chamber Passed·5/5/26

Rhode Island H8009 allows local licensing authorities to temporarily extend indoor service hours for alcohol sales during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Rhode Island H8009 permits local licensing authorities to temporarily extend indoor service hours for alcohol sales during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Tournament, from June 11, 2026, through July 19, 2026. This extension allows licensed establishments to operate 24 hours a day and sell alcohol between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. the following day. Municipalities can opt out or limit these extended hours via a city or town council resolution, but they cannot reduce hours below normal permissible levels. Licensees are not required to submit applications or pay fees for these temporary extensions.
