Establishes a twelve-year term limit for members of the Rhode Island General Assembly.
This act establishes a twelve-year term limit for members serving in the Rhode Island General Assembly. Service in the House of Representatives and the Senate will be counted separately. A person who reaches the twelve-year limit in one chamber can seek election to the other chamber, subject to the same twelve-year limit. Any partial term of one year or less will not be counted. The twelve-year limitation applies only to service occurring on or after the effective date of this act.
