Expands temporary caregiver leave benefits to include grandchildren and care recipients and increases benefit periods.

This bill expands the definition of temporary caregiver leave benefits to include care for a grandchild and a care recipient. It also increases the maximum benefit period to 10 weeks for 2027 and 12 weeks for 2028. Additionally, it provides an option for self-employed workers to opt-in to the Temporary Disability Insurance/Temporary Caregiver Insurance program. The changes take effect upon passage.
