This bill expands the Council on Elementary and Secondary Education to ten members, with six members forming a quorum. It also makes the Rhode Island Teacher of the Year a voting member. The bill establishes a Student Advisory Council, consisting of one elected high school student representative from each public secondary school. The chair of this council becomes a voting member. The Board of Education expands to nineteen members, including the Teacher of the Year and the Student Advisory Chair, both serving one term. The bill takes effect upon passage.
