Rhode Island H7612 extends the forbearance of utility terminations for customers with serious illness certifications and amends various provisions related to the termination of utility services for persons who are disabled, seriously ill, or in arrears. The bill requires public utilities to honor a licensed physician’s certification of serious illness and allows utilities to seek division review of the certification. If a certification is rejected, the utility must inform the customer in writing.
