Rhode Island H7531 repeals the 2021 Act on Climate, which established a statewide greenhouse gas emission reduction mandate. The repealed act mandated specific targets for greenhouse gas emissions reductions by 2020, 2030, 2040, and 2050. It also created a Rhode Island executive climate change coordinating council to assess, integrate, and coordinate climate change planning. The act included provisions for a science and technical advisory board to advise the council on scientific and technical matters related to climate change. The bill takes effect upon passage.
