Introduced Text

Rhode Island H7497 defines antisemitism for state agencies to identify discrimination.

Rhode Island H7497 amends the Fair Employment Practices chapter to include a definition of antisemitism, based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working definition, for state agencies to use in evaluating discrimination claims. This definition will also be used in training state personnel to recognize and address antisemitism. The bill ensures that claims of antisemitic discrimination are treated with the same legal standard as other civil rights claims. The act takes effect upon passage.
