Rhode Island H7453 seeks to amend the state constitution to ensure that the general assembly, the department of education, and other government agencies provide equal opportunities for an adequate, equitable, and meaningful education to all residents. This amendment, if approved by voters, would take effect on January 1, 2027, and would be judicially enforceable. Any person or entity injured by noncompliance could bring an action in Superior Court for enforcement and relief. The amendment also establishes a perpetual school fund for public schools.
