Rhode Island H7436 prohibits state and municipal officials from entering into or renewing agreements to detain individuals for federal civil.

Rhode Island H7436 prohibits state and municipal officials or bodies from entering into and renewing any agreements that will be used to detain individuals for federal civil immigration violations. This includes intergovernmental services agreements and leases of public property for use as immigration detention facilities. Existing agreements must be terminated for their use in detaining individuals for federal civil immigration violations. The act takes effect upon passage.
