Rhode Island H7387 proposes an amendment to the state Constitution to grant the governor a line-item veto on budget and appropriation bills. This amendment would allow the governor to approve, reduce, or disapprove specific items or parts of items in appropriation bills. If the governor disapproves an item, the general assembly can reconsider it. If three-fifths of the members in the originating house vote to pass the measure, it will be sent to the other house for reconsideration.
