Rhode Island H7208, known as the Electronic Information and Data Privacy Act, requires law enforcement agencies to obtain search warrants for electronic information, data, and location information of subscribers and customers, except in specific circumstances. These exceptions include when the information is voluntarily disclosed by the subscriber or customer, when the provider voluntarily discloses the information due to an emergency, or when the information is inadvertently discovered by the provider and appears to pertain to a felony or misdemeanor involving physical violence, sexual.
