Rhode Island H7200 modifies the definition of sexual abuse to include any act against a child under 18 years old that would be a criminal violation. It also extends the statute of limitations for bringing a cause of action for child sexual abuse. Claims can be brought within 35 years of the act or seven years from when the victim discovers the injury, whichever is later. The statute of limitations is tolled until the child turns 18. The act also allows for the revival of certain time-barred claims by June 30, 2028. This act takes effect on July 1, 2026.
