Rhode Island H7194 amends the Domestic Violence Prevention Act to include animal cruelty offenses as domestic violence crimes. This means that acts of unnecessary cruelty to an animal or malicious injury to or killing of an animal owned or cared for by a household member are now considered domestic violence when committed by a family or household member. This act takes effect upon passage.
